This is the 24th year of the central Whidbey Island spring celebration of the annual Penn Cove Mussel Festival. This year's festival will be held March 5th, 6th, and 7th in Coupeville, Washington. Headquartered at the Coupeville Recreation Hall downtown near the stores and restaurants along Front Street. Tickets for all festival activities available there.

FRIDAY EVENING, March 5th 2010
5:30PM to 7:30PM - Mussel Mingle - Join us at Mussel Festival Headquarters (Coupeville Recreation Hall) and enjoy a taste of Mussels, beer or wine, music and great conversation. Tickets $20, available at Central Whidbey Chamber of Commerce, Aqua (located on Front St), or the bayleaf (located on Coveland). Mussel Mingle attendees will be able to pre purchase Mussel Chowder tasting tickets.

11:00am-4:00pm Mystic Sea Mussel Farm Tours ($10) Leaves from the Coupeville Wharf. Cruise aboard the Mystic Sea and visit the Penn Cove Shellfish farm. The vessel is equipped with an underwater camera and 2 27” TVs for viewing. Tours will be led by Penn Cove Shellfish staff and will leave the wharf every hour on the hour.
11:00am-4:00pm Mussel Shuttles (FREE!)
Sponsored by the Captain Whidbey Inn, Coupeville Historic Waterfront Association and the Whidbey SeaTac Shuttle & Charter. Travel the “Tasting Route” aboard these 24 passenger mini coaches. The Mussel Shuttles will run a continuous loop from downtown Coupeville, out to the Captain Whidbey Inn and back along the prairie to the south Main Street participating restaurants.
11:00am-3:30pm Mussel Chowder Tasting ($7)
Sample local restaurant’s secret mussel chowder recipes and vote for your favorite! Participating restaurants include:

Leaves from the Coupeville Wharf
Aeolian Adventures aboard sailing vessel Cutty Sark. Sailings at 12pm and 2pm. Join Captain John Stone for a 2 hour sailing adventure around Penn Cove.
3:00pm-3:30pm Mussel Eating Competition ($5) at the Rec Hall. You do not want to miss this! Who will take home the coveted MusselFest Crown? Whoever can eat 5 16oz. cups of mussels first!
